Edith Clarke is a native Houstonian and reared in the heart of 5th Ward, Texas. She’s the youngest daughter of six children born to the late Henry and Lovater Baxter. A member of Sloan Memorial United Methodist Church where she serves in various church ministries and is currently a certified Lay Speaker for the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Edith is the wife of Carl M. Clarke, and is a sister, an aunt, a great aunt, a God-mother, and a good friend to have. In the words of Leo M. Tyler, Edith is “deeply loved, completely forgiven, totally accepted, gifted, and filled with a purpose.”
