Derrick Watson is a native Houstonian who graduated from Jesse H. Jones Sr. High in 1985. While at Jones he developed a passion for singing and acting. He was a member of Jones Marching Band, the national award winning choir Golden Voices Choir and a member of the Thespian Society. He performed in the following stage plays, Man From La Macha, Cats, Dream Girls and Ain’t Misbehavin. After graduating from Jones he went on to attend Huston-Tillotson University where he was a communications major. While at Tillotson he continued to act and write plays for the university.
Recently Derrick Watson has performed in the stage play A Woman’s Worth as Pastor Jones. Overdose as Clarence and Cry Baby as a psychiatrist. He has traveled to Washington D.C. and Atlanta, GA. and performed in the Black Theatre Festivals. Derrick Watson has also been cast as the father in the award winning short film written by J.A. Smith entitled Daddy Syndrome.
